The majority of monitored alarms installed today use Digital Dialler technology. This technology is totally reliant upon the use of standard telephone lines. If the telephone line is cut, the monitoring fascility is lost and the system reverts to a Local Alarm. The Control Room will be unaware of the problem until the system goes delinquent. In today's volatile world, most Insurance Companies are insisting that higher levels of alarm communications be used. The Coastcom Control Room has been fitted with a number of backup systems designed to comply with these requirements. SecuritelSecuritel is service provided by Telstra. A small Black Box called a S.T.U (Stew) is connected to your telephone line at the premises. A device in the Telephone Exchange called a Scanner continually asks the S.T.U. if it is there. If there is no reply, the Scanner assumes that the telephone line has been cut and notifies the Control Room via a duplicated link. This service is only available in certain areas. Check with our office to find out if yours is included.GuardcellThe Guardcell unit is installed near your existing alarm panel. This unit is completely stand-alone and monitors the operation of the alarm control panel and the phone line. If the phone line is cut, it immediately notifies the problem to the Control Room via the G.S.M. Digital Telephone Network. It will also relay any alarm reports to the Control Room. This is a dual reporting system. Even of the phone line is cut, the Control Room still receives all alarm reports. You do not have to wait for Telstra to fix any line faults before your alarm can again report to the Control Room. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
